PN Hoffman and Potomac Investment Properties are moving forward with the development of 1800 Columbia, the mixed-use development in the Adams Morgan neighborhood. After working with the Advisory Neighborhood Commission (ANC), Kalorama Citizen’s Association, Historic Preservation Review Board (HPRB), and considering community feedback, which has been generally favorable in support of our project, we have chosen to make changes to the project’s design, and therefor withdrawn the existing BZA application as it is no longer applicable. We have always sought to bring a balanced mix of thoughtful design and sensitivity to the neighborhoods in which we serve and continue to prioritize that as we move forward on developing this very important neighborhood.
The changes to 1800 Columbia include lowering portions of the building along 18th street to five stories, lowering the overall building height by five feet, and shifting some massing from the rear of the building to the front, which reduces our prior plaza design size by five feet. We have a long history in the neighborhood, beginning with our first project in Adams Morgan nearly 20 years ago, and we have done our very best to listen to all parties and optimize this site for the neighborhood accordingly, within the limits of regulations and commercial viability. We believe our plans are a substantial improvement over what exists there today. We are honored to continue to be part of this community’s future.
